Church Entrance

Newcomers Welcome

Thank you for being here.

Notes to Newcomers

Any children present are invited to come to the front of the Church during the second verse of the second hymn for a short time with Father George before they go to Sunday School.

There is no "Collection" in our service. Offerings may be left in the Offertory Plates found on the left hand side at the entrance to the Nave. On the right you will find the Oblations of Bread and Wine set out. Please add your own"bread" at the 10:00 service. Both Offerings and Oblations are blessed at the Altar midway through the service.

Our services will be found in the red Book of Common Prayer to which directions for the Service refer. Hymns are found in the blue hymn books in the pews.

One of the "Greeters" will direct you to the altar rail for communion. Other Greeters are present at the stairs to assist you up and down as needed. Those for whom stairs are too difficult are invited to join those at the front on the right hand side, to whom the Celebrant will bring the Sacrament after the congregation has communicated.

At St. John The Divine all are welcome at the Lord's Table. It is the duty of every confirmed person, after due preparation to partake of the Holy Communion frequently, and particularly on the greater Holy Days, of which Easter is the chief. If you would like to receive a blessing, please carry a Prayer Book with you to the altar railing. Confirmation classes are available at set times throughout the year.

If we can be of any help please speak to the Rector, or one of our Wardens (they have name badges) or members of the Parish Council.

You will find a Welcoming Brochure located in the Narthex (where you entered the church). If you would like to become a member of our parish, please fill out the application portion of the brochure and drop it into the offering plate. Offering Envelopes can be obtained through the office. Receipts for weekly and other donations are distributed in February each year in time for income tax.

Our church is wheelchair accessible. There are two ramps leading into the church; one at the entrance on Harmston and the second on 5th Street by the Parish Office entrance.
